Falling, Floating

Untitled Female Figure
2011
24x18
charcoal with pastel

I've been going, almost weekly, to figure drawing at the Sprinkler Factory in Worcester, MA.

Here, I exaggerated the pose into a sort of ecstatic fall.

  1. I like everything about her; exaggeration is good! Special paper or charcoal?

  2. Thanks!
The paper is Canson drawing paper, 90 lb.,medium tooth and the charcoal was a mix of fat vine to start then something compressed,. They are all broken & jumbled up in a plastic pouch!

I've given up Newsprint. Too many nice gesture drawings have turned to dust. I usually use a Stathmore drawing pad, 80 lb medium tooth with a slight tone, I forget if they call it cream or natural or what. If I do something I don't care about, the paper has enough body to be reused for another time. Sometimes the pentimento works to my advantage.
